Names
Each individual name is pretty important. We may not think about it but they are. Everyone on earth has a different name for a different reason and each of us should understand what that reason is and why it’s so important. Once we understand why our name is so important, we can live up to what our name implies.
The importance in names can come from two sources:
1. The meaning
For example, the name Sarah means “lady”. Which means each girl named Sarah should act like a lady. The name Emily means “Industrious”. Which means every girl named Emily should work to be Industrious.
Another example, the name Aaron means “exalted”. Which means each boy named Aaron should work for exaltation. The name John means “God is gracious”. Which means everyone named John must remember that God is Gracious.
2. You can be named after someone great or inspiring to our parents.
For example, both my first and middle names come from each of my grandpas. This helps me remember how I should be living. Both my grandpas were great in their own ways. And it helps me remember that I need to be great.
My older sister is named after one of our ancestors. Because it’s a family name, it’s not only my sister but also our ancestors. Which means my sister needs to make that ancestor proud that they sure the same name.
Basically, we need to live up to our names. If we learn what our names mean, they can bring us strength and then we can use that strength to influence and strengthen those around us!!!
