Decisions

A few years ago I came across a scripture in Genesis 3:6. I'd like to sure what it means to me.

This verse comes after Satan temps Eve with the fruit.

It says "And when the women saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat."

The part that caught my attention was the last part "and he did eat". After I read that line a few times, I started wondering what happened behind the scenes. First, I thought that maybe Satan tried to tempt Adam with the fruit, but then I wondered why Adam wasn't the first to partake. And I thought maybe Adam was determined to obey Gods commandment.

Next, I wondered why Satan convinced Eve to partake of the fruit, and the thought came to me that Eve didn't only wanted to be obedient to God, she also wanted to be like God, and she realized that partaking of the fruit was the only way to become like God.

Finally, I wondered why Adam partook of the fruit, and the thought came to me that Adam had to made a decision, not between good and bad, but between good and good. His choices were to either be obedient to God's commandment and stay in the garden or to begin the journey to be like God. In the end he decided to do what God wanted him to do.

I think in this life if we could stop and think about what God wants us to do instead of what we want to do, life would become a lot easier and we would become more friendly, patient, trusting, and helpful.

If we can do what God wants us to do, we can change the world.
